The Deep River Fire Department, located in Middlesex County, announced that the car break-in happened during the night of Saturday, April 16.

"One of our members had her car broken into last night," the fire department announced on Sunday, April 17. "For whatever reason the people who did this thought it would be nice to take the structural firefighting gear as well."

The fire department said police believe it's possible the gear may have been dumped somewhere following the break-in.

Officials asked people to keep an eye out for firefighting pants and a coat with DRFD printed on it.
